Gary Meyers - Gypsy Flamenco Guitarist
Gary Meyers began his journey as a self -taught guitarist at the age of 14. At this young age, his inspiration came from artists such as Ace Frehely of Kiss, Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads. Gary quickly found that the classical guitar was his calling and after graduating high school, Gary went on to study classical guitar under virtuoso Masakazu Ito at Colorado State University in Fort Collins Colorado, who is recognized as one of today's top guitarists, acclaimed by musicians, composers, conductors and critics for his mastery of the instrument and its repertoire.
In 2002 Gary began studies with Maestro Rene Heredia, regarded as one of the world’s most proficient and respected flamenco guitar masters. Rene, a pure gypsy, was a direct flamenco descendant of Sabicas (1912-1990), a self taught virtuoso considered to be one the worlds best and most influential flamenco guitarist. Sabicas was also recognized as the figure that set Paco De Lucia on his path.
Gary is based in Colorado and performs regularly at various venues throughout the state of Colorado and is working on bookings internationally. Gary does regular spots on radio and television as well as providing sound tracks for movies and being a finalist for the 2009 ‘Denver’s Got Talent’ competition.
Gary does both solo work and group work with his group Dirty Flamenco.
